Motions of the Sun Simulator – Great resource!

I found this awesome simulator of the sun rotating around the earth while I was educating myself on how solar panel systems should be installed (ie: south side if in the Northern Hemisphere) and understanding more about the complexities of solar.

This tool

http://astro.unl.edu/naap/motion3/animations/sunmotions.html

has been a really good tool for me to learn about the sun and much of the terminology regarding measuring the sun. Ex

  • Azimuth
  • Altitude
  • Latitude
  • Declination
  • Analemma

This simulator allows you to see the path of the sun given a certain latitude, changing the time of the day and even the month. It’s really amazing. Definitely a great tool to teach people more about the sun.

The Solar power revolution is near. This is a documentary that discusses the advances in Germany and how government’s rule in the Germany’s fastest growing sector is making a huge difference (through Feed-in tariff laws). This is a documentary that’s at least 5 years old by the way!

Germany is one of the largest solar power manufacturers in the world.

Solar Power and the Future

Solar power has become a viable and profitable source of energy for quite some time now. There are billionaires in China and India who have gathered their wealth from solar power.

As efficiency, technological improvements, decrease in cost, and economies of scale increase, coupled with increasing prices of traditional energy resources and a revitalization and consciousness of consumers of the importance of clean and renewable energies, the market will only improve.

I believe in the next 20 years we will really start seeing huge solar energy companies starting to eclipse traditional energy and gasoline companies. It’s only a matter of time.

This is why I am passionate about solar energy, and the benefits it can bring to the world, and the people of the world.

I will be learning, studying, analyzing and dedicating my time to become an expert in this field. I will share some of my findings every so often in this site.

L.A. Times publishes endorsement for Rich Goodman

The LA Times today printed up their endorsements for the March 8th election for City Council of Los Angeles. Here is the excerpt:

Los Angeles Times’ Endorsement of Rich Goodman for City Council

District 6: Rich Goodman.
The youthful Goodman doesn’t have much practical experience, but he’s highly knowledgeable about municipal issues, and we suspect he would be a more dynamic councilman than incumbent Tony Cardenas. (Read the full endorsement)
